Our client is a property management firm. They seek a Staff Accountant to join their Englewood, NJ office.
Responsibilities- Maintain and update accounting records for assigned areas
- Review and approve accounts payable and tenant refunds in a timely manner
- Process cash receipts, record bad debt recoveries, and deposit checks
- Coordinate with field teams to resolve receivable and payable issues promptly
- Analyze activity in capital expenditure accounts and apply for replacement reserves per loan agreements
- Prepare bank reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules including balance sheet, income statement, and rent roll
- Update AR/AP aging, unapplied cash, bad debt allowance, and fixed asset records
- Record and prepare journal entries and supporting documentation, including centralized entries
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including lender and regulatory reporting
- Assist with audits, respond to auditor inquiries, and complete ad hoc financial projects as needed
- 1+ year accounting experience
- Open to industry
- Public, private, or combo experience
- Residential property accounting experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Detail-oriented and highly analytical
