Role Description
Working as part of the R&D team to ensure the successful launch of new products in line with customer critical paths. You will work with the Senior NPI Process Technologist on the delivery of projects, ensuring that all stages of validation are carried out, including organoleptics, shelf life, nutritional validations, transit trials, in accordance to customer codes of practice and Pilgrim’s Food Masters manufacturing standards.
KeyAccountabilities
- Assist the NPI Technologists in the development of new products from the NPD stage through to successful product launch, adhering to the PFM Concept to launch gate process.
- Support new product trials ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Generate, file and issue factory paperwork in time for launch.
- Produce quality photographs and videos required from trials.
- Organise and carry out simple trials with support from the NPI Technologists.
- Manage sample collection from trials and coordinate shelf life submission, organoleptics, nutritional samples, laboratory portal registration, transit trials, cooking validation samples and piece count validation.
- Maintain R&D chiller sample management, rotation and cleanliness.
- Ensure compliance with relevant customer policies and business requirements.
- Implement profit improvement initiatives, fact finding and problem solving of day‑to‑day production by collating, measuring and recording factory data, basic report writing and data analysis from trials and standard production when required.
- Collect samples and ingredients for R&D & NPI use and benchmark sample & ingredient shopping as required.
Work with R&D to challenge current processes, look for alternative and innovative ways to produce new and exciting products and improve current methods. Support the team to deal with process issues raised by all levels of the organisation and customers. Assist Production Streams in process review of current products and processes.
Skills & Knowledge- Computer literate.
- Analytical and data presentation skills.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Understanding of health & safety requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a food manufacturing environment and awareness of food safety issues.
- Fair knowledge of relevant industry processes.
- Respected qualifications in relevant disciplines.
- Work experience within a FMGC environment.
- Basic culinary knowledge and appreciation of food processes.
- Level 2 Food Safety in Manufacturing.
- Level 2 Health & Safety.
- Team player, pragmatic and accountable.
- Strong communication skills to all levels.
- Eager to learn and improve.
- Attention to detail and work first time right.
- Can work alone or with others, multi‑task and handle several projects at once.
