ESTIMATOR – OAK FIRE PROTECTION

What you will be doingAn opportunity has arisen for an Estimator to join the team at Galliford Try within our Oak Fire Protection Business.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for passive fire protection works, including fire stopping, fireproof coatings, fire doors, and compartmentation systems.
- Analyse project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine material and labour costs.
- Develop competitive pricing strategies while ensuring profitability.
- Ensure estimates align with fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Keep up to date with the latest passive fire protection products, materials, and best practices.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain the best pricing and material specifications.
- Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to refine estimates and scope of work.
- Provide technical advice and solutions to clients regarding fire protection systems.
- Attend pre‑tender and post‑tender meetings as required.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and tender submissions.
- Prepare detailed reports and breakdowns of costs for management review.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities and efficiencies within project budgets.
- Experience in estimating within the passive fire protection industry or a related construction sector.
- Passive Fire Protection experience is essential.
- Knowledge of fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards (e.g., BS 476, EN 1366, ASFP guidelines).
- Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel, or specialist fire protection estimating tools).
- A relevant qualification in construction, fire protection, or quantity surveying is desirable but not essential.
