Join the Social Media Officer team at The Scouts – a full‑time, permanent role based in Gilwell Park, Chingford. The position offers a competitive salary of £33,476 per annum (Band E, Level
3) with full Outer London weighting and a comprehensive benefits package.

Title: Social Media Officer

Location: Gilwell Park, Chingford (hybrid – two to three days per month on Wednesdays when the Communications team is in)

Contract: Permanent

Hours & Contract

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). The role includes a rota‑based on‑call element for evening and weekend social media monitoring.

Responsibilities
  • Create, edit, design, schedule and monitor social media content across existing and new platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and cross‑functional creative, brand and media teams to produce channel‑appropriate content.
  • Plan and schedule social campaigns, maintaining a solid understanding of audience needs and channel evolution.
  • Manage community dialogue, responding to conversations and driving engagement with Scouts social media communities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on how to engage and influence target audiences.
Qualifications
  • Experience working at pace in a fast‑moving social media environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a talent for personality and brevity.
  • Strong grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Skill in filming and editing short‑form video (Reels, Tik Tok) on a mobile phone.
  • Ability to interpret content challenges and devise appropriate responses with support from colleagues.
  • Proven project management across multiple initiatives.
