Hire Art is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Mechanical Engineer to drive the Design for Serviceability (DFS).
In this role, you will perform evaluations of form, fit, function, access, and analysis of company products. You will present comprehensive reports, findings, and opportunities to reduce cost, time, and motion.
We’re looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree and 5-6 years of service engineering experience. The ideal candidate has a strong serviceability background with hands-on exposure to sensor and camera systems, supported by experience in product design and manufacturing environments.
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will:Partner with cross-functional teams to drive serviceability (design for serviceability).Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction, for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.Develop a service part release strategy and maintain the service BOM for spare parts planning.Work closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems.Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.Identify the need for specialized tooling. Guide the special tooling team for design ideation and development of the tool.Participate in requirements definition as it pertains to service, availability of the product, and reliability.Provide comprehensive cost/time modeling that showcases opportunities to drive product change and supports the reduction of cost or complexity of the repair.Work with the technical writing team to establish the repair process.Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering5-6 years of experience in service engineering, grounded in mechanical engineering within product design and manufacturing environmentsExperience with sensors, cameras, or compute systemsProven ability to identify and implement product design and service process improvementsExperience designing and developing products through the lifecycleAbility to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processesExperience with product and process validationTooling and/or equipment design experienceDetail-oriented, with strong documentation skillsAbility to work autonomously and manage projects independentlyNice to Have:CAD experience; CATIA is a plusAutomotive backgroundBenefits:Pre-tax commuter benefitsEmployer (Hire Art) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service)Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costsHire Art covers all costs for short and long term disability and life insurance401k packageCommitment: This is a full-time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art.
