Position: Senior Building Automation (BAS) Designer/ Design Engineer – GTA
Senior Building Automation (BAS) Designer/ Design Engineer – GTA Job Summary The Senior Building Automation (BAS) Design leads BAS design for major new construction projects, supporting BAS engineering, project, service, and sales teams. A Senior BAS Designer is defined as one who has demonstrated a competency in technical leadership, team building skills and desire for the BAS department success.
Summary of Essential Job FunctionsLead BAS Design projects in maintaining the highest level of technical competence and expertise and value-added solutions that will result in customer satisfaction while adhering to the company’s short and long term financialReview project contract plans and specifications, sales estimates and take-off sheets.Design Building Automation Systems as per contract plans and specifications, including damper schedule, valve schedules, sequence of operations, bill of materials, and etc.Prepares submittal documents, as-builts, commission documents, and operation and maintenance manuals.Provide technical support to the project team and service team and support ongoing development and coordination of the company’s engineering standards, policies, procedures, monitoring and reporting.Assist with project and service group documentation and sales proposal.Assist with site commissioningUphold company standards, policies and procedures.Communicate and share resources to provide support to construction team and service team.Assist project manager and service supervisor ensure that comprehensive projects and related assignments are implemented, perform to design specifications, built to the prescribed quality, communicated and reported in accordance.Perform field activities as required, such as field survey site meeting and etc.Assist the project team, service team, and sales team regarding all BAS related work. This to include, but not limited to proposals, studies, estimates, implementation, commissioning, etc. as required.Assist the project team and service team in developing and using tools, processes methodology and policy as it relates to the planning, implementation, and improvement of servicesAssist in the development and enhancement of products and services that can be offered to our existing and prospective clients.BAS DesignCreate / review design submittals (incl. Point list, Flow Layouts, Sequence, Network Layout, B.O.M., etc) by reviewing quote, scope of work, equipment cutsheets and Mechanical drawings as per the project scheduleCreate / review material ordersCoordinate with our customers and installers as needed to generate accurate submittalsIssue RFI’s as neededKeep up to date project folders for any relevant files and correspondence related to the design of the project.Attend site meetings as requiredReview marked up drawings and commissioning notes to create accurate project as built and close-out documents.Assist internal/external customers with configuration and set-up of controllers for projects which includes configuration, addressing, downloading, testing and labelling.Create internal control panel documentation, coordinate with purchasing, panel shop and project lead as required to execute panels based on customer expectations and time linesAssist with database generation by creating and modifying control system graphics.Generate Asset Tags and maintain building database using Builtspace softwareProgram simple to complex controls systems using factory provided software such as Tridium N4, Distech, Honeywell, Johnson ControlsContribute to design team standardsCoordinate with team members (design and Field) on status of projects and Deadlines.Experience / Qualifications:Minimum 8-12 years Building Automation Design experienceDemonstrated through knowledge of HVAC control systemsExtensive BAS Design experience in support of large new construction projectsProven BAS System Design expertise utilizing Visio and related softwareFluent in Microsoft Office, including Visio or Script programming software.Strong expertise with Microsoft Software (including Excel, Outlook, etc.).The ability to read and understand construction plans and specs and product documentation.Experienced in supporting BAS Engineers, Project Managers, Estimators and Sales teamsAbility to interface effectively with clients and contractorsAbility to multi-task between design, technical support and other duties and responsibilitiesAbility to work effectively in a team-based environment with minimal supervisionValid Driver’s license and theStrong written and verbal communication skillsFuze HR Solutions is committed to building a diverse, accessible, and equitable workforce.
