The Guardian of Safe Working Hours (GoSWH) is a contractual requirement of the 2016 Terms and Conditions for Resident Doctors. The GoSWH ensures that issues of compliance with safe working hours are addressed by the Resident Doctor and the Trust. The GoSWH also provides assurance to the Trust’s Board that Resident Doctors’ working hours are safe.
In this Administrator role you will work closely with the Guardian of Safe Working Hours across both sites to oversee the exception reporting of Resident Doctor in Training process for the Trust.
Exception Reporting is the mechanism by which Resident Doctors can inform the Trust when their day to day work varies significantly and or regularly from their agreed Work Schedule. Primarily these variations will be:
- Differences in Total Working Hours (including opportunities for rest breaks)
- Difference in the pattern of hours worked
- Difference in the educational opportunities and support available
- Immediate Safety Concerns
You will co-ordinate information and provide support to the GoSWH for quarterly board reports on exception reporting. The role will also include centrally co-ordinating additional payments for Resident Doctors as a result of working additional hours and arranging meetings and preparing minutes for the Resident Doctors Forum (RDF).
You will have regular contact with Resident Doctors across all specialities, therefore it is essential that you have excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills. You will also be a proactive team player who is able to develop strong and effective working relationships.
You will have excellent computer/keyboard skills and the ability to use all Microsoft applications and will be able to demonstrate previous experience of administration including of database systems and previous experience of working in busy, customer facing role.
A flexible and pragmatic approach to your work and exceptional organisational skills that will enable you to manage a varied workload, with competing priorities and deadlines, is also key to success in this role.
Working Patternb> 18.75 hours per week
