Location: Exeter, Hybrid, UK-wide travel

Role Type: Senior commercial/category leadership (new business + supplier development)

Role Summary

This position leads the commercial growth of the Board & Insulation Systems division. The lead will identify major opportunities across drywall boards, insulation, ceiling systems, metals, plywood, and plastering consumables. The role combines strategic new business hunting with deep supplier engagement, ensuring the category becomes a high-performing, margin-strong product vertical.

Required Sector Experience (Essential)
  • Drywall and board products (plasterboard, fibre cement, specialist boards, ceiling boards).
  • Insulation systems (PIR, mineral wool, EPS, acoustic insulation).
  • Ceiling and drywall metals.
  • Plywood and related sheet materials.
  • Plastering consumables and accessories.
Key Responsibilities
  • Drive new customer acquisition across contractors, developers, and procurement teams.
  • Develop partnerships with manufacturers and importers of boards, insulation, ceiling products, and metals.
  • Secure preferential pricing, rebates, and high-margin category opportunities.
  • Identify gaps in the product range and work with data and purchasing teams to onboard new lines.
  • Represent the category at trade shows, supplier sites, warehouses, and customer project visits.
  • Conduct market intelligence gathering on competitor boards, insulation pricing trends, and supply conditions.
  • Lead category strategy, sales planning, and field execution.

  • Strong board/insulation technical knowledge and credibility with the trade.
  • Proven hunter mentality with a track record of winning high-value accounts.
  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercially sharp, confident analysing pricing structures and margin models.
  • Comfortable travelling nationally and working autonomously.
