Overview

We are working with a leading residential developer with ambitious growth plans who are currently seeking an experienced Estimator to join their Commercial team in Exeter. This is a key role in setting projects up for success, from land bids through to final budgets, ensuring developments are both viable and profitable.

As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed budgets, estimates and cashflows from pre-land purchase through to final approval. The position involves supporting land and planning teams with accurate costings, undertaking site visits to assess constraints, and maintaining up-to-date cost data on materials and subcontractor pricing. You will also manage take-offs, quotations and financial appraisals, build strong relationships with suppliers and consultants, and drive value engineering to ensure projects are commercially robust and cost effective.

They are looking for an Estimator with proven experience in house building or residential construction, although a Quantity Surveying background will also be considered. You should bring strong knowledge of construction costs, techniques and regulations, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation. Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, along with strong Excel skills, is essential. Excellent communication, organisation and negotiation abilities will be key to your success in the role.
