Finance Analyst

Overview

Butler Rose is recruiting a Finance Analyst for a fast‑paced manufacturing business in the Exeter area. This is a 12 month fixed‑term contract with hybrid / flexible working.

In this role, you will partner the commercial teams in sales and marketing, providing the financial insight and challenge that drives smarter decisions. From annual planning and forecasting to detailed brand and customer analysis, you'll be trusted with contributing towards sales, trade spend, and marketing investment.

• Partnering with senior leaders to guide financial planning, performance reporting and decision‑making.
• Delivering accurate forecasting at brand, customer and product level, with clear analysis of variances.
• Taking ownership of financial controls – ensuring accurate revenue recognition, accruals, and compliance.
• Leading the demand review process, producing insightful reporting and presentations that shape strategic conversations.
• Analysing customer and product profitability, identifying trends and opportunities.
• Evaluating promotional activity, approving spend and providing post‑campaign reviews to drive profitable growth.
• Supporting innovation by modelling new product launches and tracking their success.
• Acting as a super‑user of forecasting systems, ensuring accuracy and driving continuous improvement.
• Providing compelling month‑end analysis and commentary for senior leadership.
• Contributing to projects that improve processes and efficiency across the business.
• Daily use of Excel to manipulate data and provide reports.

The successful candidate will be a fully or part‑qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACA or equivalent). You will be an analytically minded finance professional who thrives in a commercial environment. You'll combine strong technical skills with the confidence to challenge, influence and support business leaders.
