Nursing Assistant

Job Summary

We are looking for a Nursing Assistant to join the Haldon Eating Disorder Service based at Wonford House, Exeter. The post holder will assist with therapeutic meal times and various ward activities, contributing to the Haldon team’s compassionate and supportive care for people from diverse backgrounds.

• Assist multidisciplinary team members in the delivery of care and treatment to service users.
• Support the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals.
• Undertake practical procedures under the supervision of trained nursing staff.
• Participate in ward activities and therapeutic meal times.

Essential

• Previous employment/experience working with people in a caring situation or in mental health services.
• Awareness of safeguarding principles.
• Basic education; completion of the Care Certificate within the first six months of employment (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to make and sustain professional therapeutic relationships.
• Good communication and listening skills; ability to work with individuals and in groups.

Desirable

• Previous care experience with people who have mental health difficulties.
• Knowledge of mental health and a basic understanding of physical health presentations.
• NVQ Level 3, QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
• Other evidence of training or development relevant to working within mental health settings.

• Pay scheme: £24,937 to £26,598 per year plus weekend/night shift enhancements.
