General Practice Nurse / Treatment Room Nurse

Are you a General Practice Nurse or Treatment Nurse looking to join a friendly and supportive team? Then look no further!

We are recruiting for a GPN / Treatment Room Nurse to join our team for 22 - 25 hours a week working Wednesday - Friday each week.

The candidate will provide and maintain a high standard of Nursing care for patients of Topsham Surgery by focusing upon supporting patients to be healthy, participating in prevention and screening activities. You will work collaboratively with the Practice Team providing support to the Doctors and other members of the Primary Healthcare Team to meet the needs of the patients supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.

Experience and qualification in GPN duties (childhood immunisations and cervical screening) is preferred; however, training is available for the right candidate.

Duties:

• Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care
• Wound care/ulcer care
• Removal of sutures
• New patient medicals
• Cervical Cytology
• ECGs
• Venepuncture
• Ear syringing
• Routine immunisations/childhood immunisations/travel immunisations
• Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
• Requesting pathology tests
• Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to Senior Nurse or GP as appropriate

Other Tasks to Include:

• Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
• Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by GPs and Nurses
• Maintaining GP and Nurses rooms
• Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of Nurse Treatment Rooms
• Ensure infection control guidelines are maintained
• Participate in QOF
• Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
• Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
• At all times to maintain accurate records
• A duty to advise Lead Nurse of potential problems or errors
• Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

We are made up of 2 sites, one in Topsham and a branch site at Countess Wear.

The 2 sites are spacious with a variety of consulting and administration rooms with a pharmacy based at the Glasshouse site.

Wecare for over 12,000 patients across a large practice boundary from Middlemoor and St Leonards to Lympstone in the South and Aylesbeare inthe East.

• NMC Registered Nurse

• ECGs
