Support Worker​/Personal Assistant – Eyemouth

A gentleman living at home with his wife in Eyemouth, who uses an electric wheelchair and has a right-side weakness, is looking for a cheerful and friendly support worker to support him on a daily basis. The role is to provide support to the gentleman in the morning which includes help him with transfers, personal care and catheter care.

• Hours per week: up to 4.25 hours
• Hours of work: 8am every morning for 45 minutes and 3 times a week this to be increased to an hour.
• £13.20 per hour.
• Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
• Probationary period of 3 months

• To support a disabled person to ensure their safety and well-being.
• To support with transfers in and out of his wheelchair.
• To support personal care that includes:
  • Assistance to shower 3 times a week
  • Assistance with showering, drying and dressing.
  • Support with catheter management.
• To develop a positive relationship with the client and his family.
• To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings

• Ability to work sensitively respecting the client and family’s right to privacy and to always maintain professional standards of confidentiality.

• Knowledge of moving and handling and first aid would be desirable but not essential for a candidate with the right personal attributes, as long as they show some suitability for the role as training can be provided.
