Working Hours: 4 on, 4 off, covering the hours of 07:00 – 19:00
Gama Aviation is currently recruiting for an Apprentice Operations Controller to join our excellent Ground Operations team in Farnborough. Working at the very core or our business in our 24/7 Operations Control Centre, your daily responsibilities will be diverse and will require key abilities to multitask and prioritise.
As a member of our Operations Control Centre team, you will utilise numerous systems and tools to provide daily support to our growing list of clients and contracts. Whether flight following one of our rotary flights, notifying a client of a flight movement, booking airport slots for a company flight, arranging overflight permits for a Trip Support customer, taking a radio call from a Helimed on an emergency tasking, calling out an airport to receive an air ambulance, or managing an air traffic slot delay, you will find your skills and knowledge tested daily as you work closely with your shift colleagues to provide a professional and efficient service in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
As well as having in house training provided by members of the Operations Control Centre within Gama Aviation, you will also complete training courses and be assigned coursework by our Apprentice training provider. 1 of the 4 rostered shifts a week will be assigned to complete external training and the coursework assignments that comes with.

Gama Aviation has presence in almost all aspects and areas of aviation services, and by extension, the Operations Control Centre in which you will work, provides the operational foundation for many of the company’s key contracts.
Responsibilities- Assisting the Operations Supervisor and Duty Operations Manager with the day-to-day running of the Operations Control Centre
- Monitoring and management of several email inboxes, replying to incoming emails from numerous sources
- Dealing with incoming telephone calls
- Preparation of company flights, arranging ground handling services, airport slots, fuel, ground transport and other services as dictated by client and crew requirements
- Arranging overflight, landing and charter permits
- Flight watch within numerous areas of operation, and across multiple regions
- Sending of flight departure & arrival messages to clients
- Planning & dispatch of air ambulance flights
- Diligence, compliance and error checking, including but not necessarily limited to:
- Crew paperwork
- Operational Flight Plans
- Flight Time Limitations (FTL)
- Crew duty & return flight paperwork
- Ground services arrangements
- Fuel releases
- Excellent IT skills, and familiarity with Windows and MS Office products, notably Outlook
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
- As this is an apprenticeship role previous experience is not required, we do require someone who is passionate and has a strong interest in aviation.
