The Post Holder will be pivotal in duty management, effective volunteer engagement and a positive visitor experience. This role will work to bring Felixstowe Museum and Landguard Fort together by applying their skills across both sites.
- Full-time, permanent position, 35 Hours a week (job share may be considered)
- Flexible working including weekends and Bank Holidays
- Work closely and collaboratively with Trustees to enable the CIO to meet its charitable purpose and objectives successfully
- Duty Management – Oversee day-to-day operations and emergency preparedness
- Management of Visitor Experience at Felixstowe Museum and Landguard Fort
- Management of Facilities at Felixstowe Museum and Landguard Fort
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, Stakeholder relations and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with volunteer management best practices
- Experience in cash handling, budgeting and administration
- Understanding of Health and Safety.
- Experience working towards commercial targets and managing budgets
- Experience working and managing within a museum environment, including archiving and collections
- Experience with Museum accreditation, specifically renewal of accreditation
- Experience in facilities management, especially in museums/heritage
- Experience working in visitor experience and tourism especially in museums and heritage.
Felixstowe Museum, a former submarine mining station (1878) sits on the Landguard Peninsula between the Fort and the Port. The Museum houses both permanent and temporary collections across 14 display rooms. Landguard Fort tells the story of the building as well as the people who served there. Both the Museum and Landguard Fort are owned by English Heritage but run by charitable trusts.
Between both sites they have c.30,000 visitors a year. Both charities are part of a wider partnership, the Landguard and Felixstowe Conservation Trust (Landguard Trust).
