Site Engineer

Location: Hatton

Responsibilities

• Produce Method Statements, Task Briefings and Risk Assessments approved by supervising engineers.
• Contribute to the production of all Permits‑to‑Works and brief the workforce accordingly.
• Perform Safety Inspections, Hazard Identification and develop Safe Systems of Work.
• Maintain knowledge of company procedures and statutory regulations on environmental and waste management; carry out monitoring under guidance.

Dimensional / Spatial Control

• Provide dimensional control for a section of the works.
• Undertake as‑built surveys for the section and present results for inclusion in project records.
• Establish and maintain secondary control derived from primary control.
• Check dimension design data early, raising technical queries to eliminate delays.
• Ensure that appropriate as‑built surveys are undertaken, correctly recorded and communicated.
• Manage survey equipment, ensuring suitability and proper calibration.

Workmanship, Quality, Inspection & Testing

• Raise Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for all non‑conformances and report potential ones.
• Produce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) that correctly interpret specified quality requirements.
• Implement ITP and Request for Witness and Approval (RWA) procedures.
• Collate and file quality records for potential inclusion in quality assurance documentation.
• Maintain accurate daily diary, photographs and records of site discussions.
• Carry out quality control checks using internal check sheets where appropriate.
• Apply company and external technical information to meet specified quality requirements.
• Promote a “right first time” culture.
• Work to the Weekly Programme, marking progress achieved weekly.
• Create accurate daily diaries of resources – labour, plant, materials, subcontractors and outputs.

Information, Change Control & Records

• File and maintain engineers’ drawings and specifications so that current information is always available.
• Mark up drawings and specifications with changes, referencing the documentation that verifies the change.
• Interpret and abstract construction information from drawings and specifications and provide clear sketches to supervisors and operatives.

Permanent Works – Materials, Products, Plant & Systems

• Measure materials usage and provide quantity information for material call‑offs and requisitions.
• Conduct on‑site testing of materials, products, plant and systems as required by the role.
• Prepare setting‑out sketches detailing installed information.

Construction Methods, Practices and Innovation

• Read and understand method statements; ensure site operations follow them accurately and report any variances.
• Produce sketches and drawings to clarify methods and construction sequences.

Temporary Works / Systems & Cranes

• Understand temporary works and relate permits to load.
• Act as temporary works inspector for the standard temporary works involved.
• Ensure temporary works on the section are identified and the temporary works procedure is applied.

Engineering Knowledge – Capture, Sharing & Using

• Interrogate design information and determine sufficiency for construction; raise documentation (e.g., TIEs, TQs, CVIs) with supervision to resolve discrepancies.
• Communicate technical information effectively to the workforce and liaise with project team support services.
• Provide feedback to supervising engineers on the effectiveness of materials, specialist contractors, plant and designers used on site.
• Prepare basic calculations, drawings and sketches.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with concrete structures and civil engineering/building construction.
• Prior experience in Civil Engineering.
• Prior experience in Architectural and Landscaping packages.
