Environmental Enforcement Officer

We are working alongside the local Council and searching for permanent Environmental Enforcement Officers to complement the Team.
The main purpose of the Environment Enforcement Officer (EEO) is to assist with the effective delivery of the environmental enforcement and patrol function in accordance with all relevant statute, guidance, policies, and procedures and support the wider environmental protection function as appropriate.
Essential Experience- Experience of working in a customer facing role
- Previous relevant experience working in an enforcement role, ie. this could be ideal for someone ex-Police, ex-Army etc
- Experience of GIS and map based application
- Any knowledge of environmental and dog control enforcement regulations including the Dog Control Orders, the Police & Criminal Evidence Act 1984, the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014
- Computer skills, ie. MS Office applications
- Good basic education; either a relevant environmental qualification or willingness to work towards CIEH Level 2 Award in Environmental Principles and Best Practice
- Driving licence – patrol vehicle provided
- Any local authority policy enforcement experience
- Experience working with communities and partnerships delivering educational initiatives / campaigns
- Experience of working with or handling dogs
- Experience of preparing prosecution files
- Reasonable geographical knowledge of the district and surrounding area
- Experience of camera surveillance and monitoring Package
Salary £26,744.00 - £29,747 per annum
Main Duties- Undertake routine patrols in relation to dog control and littering offences
- Respond to environmental crime
- Respond to stray dog requests
- Carry out recorded interviews
- Attend court where necessary and provide witness reports
- Remove or coordinate the removal of littering, fly posting and small scale fly tips from public land where practicable
- Maintain effective partnerships with local Police Environment Agency, KCC Community Wardens etc
- Operate as Duty Officer by rota
- Monitor CCTV footage and analyse data for enforcement and prosecution
- Attend walkabouts
- Attend weekly Community Safety Unit
- Complete additional seasonal patrols on a rota basis
