Position: Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Operative

To provide essential support for mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering and maintenance activities. The role involves assisting skilled technicians, preparing tools and equipment, moving materials, and performing operational and administrative tasks. The operative ensures work areas remain clean and safe, contributing to the efficiency, reliability, and performance of the M&E teams. While prior technical knowledge is advantageous, full training will be provided.

  • Comply with all Health and Safety regulations and site procedures.
  • Prepare tools, equipment, and materials for engineering tasks.
  • Assist with the safe movement and positioning of equipment under supervision.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of work areas and machinery.
  • Collect and deliver parts or materials as directed by M&E teams.
  • Provide hands‑on support during preventative and corrective maintenance activities, including tool handling and system monitoring.
  • Carry out checks and record information in accordance with training and procedures.
  • Engage in learning new skills and participate in development training opportunities.
  • Work primarily outdoors or in workshop environments.
  • Tasks may involve working at height or in confined spaces.
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols and use of protective clothing is mandatory.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Job-specific training will be provided.
  • Ability to read instructions and follow safety guidelines.
  • Valid driving licence for manual and automatic vehicles.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety practices and site procedures.
  • Basic equipment handling skills.
  • Additional training and certifications are offered for personal development (e.g., locomotive operation, PAT testing, fire extinguisher training).
