About the role

This is an exciting opportunity unlike other support roles, with Turning Point Scotland, no two days are the same!

Our role will include:

  • Helping to provide individualised support to adults with a wide range of needs, either on an individual 1:1 basis or alongside others and as part of a team.
  • Supporting individuals within the community and engaging with their hobbies and interests & empowering individuals to develop skills and independence, promoting their overall growth.
  • Attending various community groups andaccompanyingour service users to attend activities they are passionate about, from taking a trip to the cinema, enjoying a morningswimor attending local groups or community projects, accompany on holidays and trips away with the individuals we support.
  • Assist with personal care, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing.
  • Celebrate achievements and milestones, both big and small, to create a rewarding and positive environment.

Turning Point Scotland’s Angus service provides support to individuals with complex needs including learning disability and autism in their own homes, living in the community and support them withevery dayopportunities that promotes independence and choice.

We strive to enable people to access everyday life experiences including access to education, employment/volunteering and social activities. We will also provide support with developing relationships andmaintaininga home. We work in partnership with health teams, social work teams, Community justice teams,Policeand advocacy.

Turning Point Scotland operates a List of Approved Relief Workers who may be contacted by services when there is a need to engage additional workers in order to provide the required support to someone who uses our services. Relief Workers are primarily deployed to cover periods of leave, or sickness absence and to provide additional support during periods of peak activity etc

When there is suitable work available within a service, a manager will contact Relief Workers offer them a shift/series of shifts. As a Relief Worker you will be well-placed to fit your work around your existing work or other commitments and you will be under no pressure or obligation to accept work from us if it does not suit you to do so.

Once work is offered and accepted by you however, there is an expectation that you will make every effort to attend to undertake that shift. Your reliability in this regard is very important to our services and to the people we support who will be expecting you.

Relief Workers submit a Time Sheet to claim payment for the hours they have worked and are paid on a monthly basis. You will accrue some entitlement to paid holidays and you will be reimbursed for all reasonable expenses incurred in the course of your work for us.

You will be required to undertake a programme of basic training which is primarily designed to enable you to operate safely, but also to meet the organisation’s obligations to you in terms of health & safety legislation.

Relief Working at Turning Point Scotland will not normally be suitable for people who have full-time posts with other agencies.
