Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV Driver) - Forfar
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highways Maintenance Operative (HGV Driver) to join our NMC North East Account in Forfar
. This role will be based in our Forfar depot.
Our NMC NE Account which was awarded to us in 2022 supports Transport Scotland. The account delivers improved levels of service to the trunk road network, aiming to ensure consistent, predictable and reliable journeys for road users. Works will cover maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures and discrete improvement schemes, while adhering to the Scottish Government’s climate change and sustainability targets.
We’ll also implement an enhanced winter and incident response service, improve communications and deliver new technologies for better management of trunk network assets and maintenance activities.
HGV Driver (Highways Maintenance Operative) plays an important part in constructing minor and major civil schemes as well as routine maintenance activities.
It would be desirable to have previous civil, trade or street works experience to help you hit the ground running. Ideal experience includes previous winter work and/or a valid HGV Class 2 licence
. HGV training can be provided to a suitable candidate.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The role may involve overtime, participation in on‑call rotas and night shift work as required by the business.
You will be responsible for:- Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works, including drainage, kerbing and other civil schemes.
- Leading a squad and collaborating closely with other gangers.
- Completing associated scheme records to a high quality, such as daily site diaries and measurement records.
- Driving/operating vehicles and plant, ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning are carried out.
- Winter maintenance, including emergency call‑outs and standby.
- Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team, as safety is a top priority.
