Fort William Health Centre

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

NHS Highlands Lochaber Social Work Team is seeking a dynamic and committed individual to join our integrated health and social care community service. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified Social Workers or those working towards qualification with registration with SSSC expected within nine months to become part of a busy, supportive team delivering a generic adult social work service across Lochaber.

The team supports adults with learning disabilities, complex health needs, physical disabilities, severe and enduring mental health conditions, older adults, and young people with disabilities transitioning from children’s services. Based in Fort William, the role offers the unique chance to practice both rural and urban social work across a large geographical area.

Successful applicants who are working towards qualification will be appointed at Band 5 level as a Social Work Assistant Practitioner until such time as the qualification is gained and registration is completed.

Applicants must hold a suitable professional Social Work qualification and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), or be on track to register within the required timeframe. A full UK driving licence is essential, and access to a personal vehicle is required. A pool car is also available for work purposes.

NHS Highland provides a professional environment with robust supervision, peer support, and a strong emphasis on learning and development. You’ll be part of a team that values collaboration, compassion, and continuous improvement.
