Full time fixed term post for 12 months
The opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team and contribute to providing a high quality multi-disciplinary service to the Lochaber area.
The Belford Hospital is situated in Fort William in Lochaber and forms part of the wider NHS Highland laboratory network and the department provides Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, Blood Transfusion and Microbiology services.
Fort William is considered the Outdoor Capital of the UK. The area is one of outstanding beauty offering opportunities for water sports, mountaineering and snow sports. Fort William itself lies at the head of Loch Linnhe and at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest and most popular mountain in the British Isles with Glasgow, Inverness and Stirling all within a 3 hour drive.
Applicants must be HCPC registered and have experience of working within an acute NHS laboratory; with reference to work including following written protocols and procedures being essential. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary environment is desirable with an enthusiastic and innovative approach to team working.
Candidates should hold strong analytical and problem solving skills and have the ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team. Once trained, the successful candidate will be required to contribute to an on call 24/7/365 rota.
It is an exciting time to join the team at the Belford Hospital as the new Lochaber redesign project is underway which will provide a new state of the art hospital laboratory to work in and develop professional skills further.
