Term of App't: Temporary, Full Time (Monday - Friday, 7 hours per day)

Reporting to: IT Infrastructure Manager
Salary:
Classification 17, $32.73 – $33.74 per hour in accordance with the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees in this role receive an additional $0.58/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay, and a Labour Market Adjustment stipend of $5.49/hour.

Campuses are closed during the Christmas break (December 25 – January
1), which is unpaid time off.

Northern Lights College supports one of the largest geographical areas of any post-secondary institution in BC, with a wide array of systems deployed across multiple campuses. You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies from Meraki, Palo Alto, Microsoft, Dell, and Polycom.
As a Senior Systems Administrator, you will:
- Install, configure, and support systems hardware and software solutions
- Ensure maintenance, backup/recovery, management, security, and accessibility of mission-critical enterprise systems and data
- Oversee the cleanliness and performance of on-premises servers and systems
- Design, plan, and implement new systems in collaboration with the infrastructure team, vendors, contractors, consultants, and other third parties
- Provide support to staff and students regarding NLC's systems infrastructure
- Mentor IT team members in the use, management, and administration of systems, utilities, and resources
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of three years' experience as a System Administrator or in a related role.
- Experience with Microsoft Exchange in a hybrid deployment and with SIEM technologies.
- Proficiency with Active Directory, Power Shell, Power Automate, and the Microsoft O365/Azure environment, with solid knowledge of Windows Server and data governance/security.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills in planning, designing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining IT infrastructure.
- Quick to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline. Candidates with relevant certifications and/or substantial work experience will also be considered.
- Strong break/fix skills in both virtual and physical infrastructure technologies including VMs, Azure, Windows and Linux servers, SharePoint, and video conferencing systems.
- Related certifications, such as A+, MCSA/MCSE, and Security+.
