Position: Registered Nurse (rn), Clinical Decision Unit

Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at the Fort St. John Hospital.

The Registered Nurse (RN) practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family-centered care model. The Registered Nurse (RN) practices in a variety of clinical settings and works collaboratively with the interprofessional care team to provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit.

Days, Nights, 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00 (rotating)

Fort St. John Hospital and Health Centre

Fort St. John Hospital has 44 Acute Care beds and 124 residential beds and is equipped to handle 22,000 ER visits per year. Highlights:

  • Endoscopy suite, 2 state-of-the-art operating rooms, plus a procedure room
  • Ambulatory clinics including Cancer and Hemodialysis
  • Medical and Surgical inpatient rooms (40 beds)
  • 3 Intensive care units
  • Minor surgeries
  • 7 single Maternity rooms for Labour, Delivery, and Post-Partum
  • Health Unit and Primary Care Clinic serve the community.
Fort St. John

Fort St. John is known as "The Energetic City," reflecting its resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. The town is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population is over 21,400, and it services an area of approximately 70,000. The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a practicing RN registrant.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to complete initial and ongoing patient assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the patients, families/care givers, the public, medical staff and the members of the interprofessional team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
  • Ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem‑solve effectively.
  • Ability to promote resident‑focused care that demonstrates care for and with residents and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, resident advocacy and social justice concerns.
  • Ability to transmit information intended to instruct patients, families/care givers and others about topics essential to health care and well‑being.
