Project Accountant – Fredericton, NB

Ellis Don is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support construction projects in Fredericton and Saint John. This role involves managing project finances, ensuring accurate billing, maintaining cash flow, and assisting the Project Manager with reporting.

• Read and understand project-related contracts and subcontractor documentation to ensure project set‑up procedures are aligned with contract terms.
• Collect, reconcile, seek approval and process all project-related subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal hourly payroll costing allocations and other financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner to meet contract payment terms.
• Assemble client billing packages in accordance with approval procedures and processes to ensure clients receive billings on a timely basis and payments are received per contract terms.
• Maintain accurate and timely cash flow data, both current and forecasted, as compared to projected cash flow assumed in the financial model.
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing monthly reports for owner/consultant and internal reporting.
• Manage and reconcile the project budget and change distributions.

• Post‑secondary education in Business Administration/Finance with 3‑6 years of relevant accounting experience, or equivalent training and experience.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to develop logical solutions to support project teams or business units with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Willingness to work independently and on‑site at project locations.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
• Related experience working in a construction environment is an asset.
• Position is on‑site and split between projects in Saint John and Fredericton.
