Your

Role as a Pension Administrator

This is a 23 month fixed term appointment.

You’ll be a key part of our operational delivery team, ensuring members receive accurate and timely pension information. You’ll deliver exceptional customer service by responding to member queries with clarity and care, while processing and analysing data from employers to keep records accurate and up to date. You’ll make sure pensions are calculated and paid correctly and on time, and you’ll also play a vital role in delivering the 2015 McCloud Sargeant Remedy project—a landmark initiative shaping the future of public sector pensions.

What You’ll Do
  • Support our members by providing clear, accurate pension information through webform, email and call enquiries — using your knowledge of complex scheme regulations to calculate benefits and payments throughout the pension lifecycle.
  • Handle data with care by collecting, analysing, and processing member information accurately and securely, ensuring all records comply with data protection regulations.
  • Manage requests efficiently by prioritising queries from members and third parties, resolving issues promptly and in line with scheme rules, agreed procedures, and deadlines.
  • Apply your expertise in pension schemes to administer a variety of casework—reviewing member records, making informed decisions, and ensuring everything meets the Agency’s high standards.

Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on.

Experience Lead Criteria

Experience of carrying out calculations involving monetary values.

In your application, please show us your experience of carrying out calculations involving monetary values. We are looking for examples of how you’ve applied your numeracy skills to situations which involved any type of monetary values.

Stage One (CV Review)

An initial review will be conducted using the CV and Supporting Statement on the Experience Lead Criteria as listed above.

Stage two (interview and assessment)

If successful at application review, you will be invited for assessment, which will consist of an interview and job simulation exercise, where we will test all criteria listed above.

Assessments are scheduled for w/c 19 January 2026 however this may be subject to change.

Interview and assessment are expected to take place in person on site at SPPA, 7 Tweedside Park, Tweedbank, Galashiels, TD1 3TE
