Bennett & Game Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a respected multi‑disciplinary transport planning and infrastructure consultancy as they continue their strategic expansion across their Birmingham, Fleet, and Gateshead offices. Operating as a true "one‑stop" development transport solution, our client supports a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients—including nationally recognised commercial developers—delivering high‑quality highways, transport planning, drainage, and environmental engineering services across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Highway Design Engineer or Senior Highway Design Engineer to join their established team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a broad range of S278 and S38 schemes, contribute to complex multi‑office projects, and play an integral role in the delivery of sustainable transport infrastructure.
Role Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver highway design packages within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Plan and manage project resources to ensure efficient team utilisation.
- Support senior leadership on multi‑office and multidisciplinary project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with statutory design standards and relevant authority guidance.
- Produce, check, and approve technical drawings, reports, and design information.
- Work in accordance with MCHW, DMRB, and local authority design standards.
- Promote continuous improvement and bring forward innovative engineering solutions.
- Maintain strong awareness of Health & Safety and CDM regulations, driving proactive risk management.
- Demonstrable experience delivering Section 278 and Section 38 highway design schemes.
- Strong technical background across varied highway design environments.
- Proven project management capability with a track record of on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
- Experience mentoring junior team members and supporting technical development.
- In‑depth knowledge of DMRB and other relevant design standards.
- Experience preparing and managing contract documentation for highway projects.
- Proficiency with Civils 3D and Causeway Flow / PDS for highways and drainage design.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in client liaison.
