At CERN , the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature.
Job DescriptionIntroduction
You will engage in the development of RF amplifier systems, which power RF resonators for particle beam acceleration. Theobjectiveis to replace ageing tube electronics with solid-state technology in line with beam requirements.
Functions
- Lead the design of Solid-State Power Amplifiers, including calculations, simulations, component selection, layout definition and PCB design, as well as RF system and component modelling and characterisation through planned measurements.
- Define manufacturing methods, specifications and acceptance criteria, and provide progress reporting and documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for prototyping, testing and diagnostics, and oversee the operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of existing RF equipment.
- Support beam-based measurements, analyse equipment performance and ensure compliance with all safety procedures.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations and other documentation, contributing to effective knowledge sharing.
Master's degree or PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Electronics engineering, RF and microwave electronics, or a related field.
