Mechanical Technician; BE-EA-DCLD

Introduction :

You will participate in interventions and troubleshooting mechanical issues and coordinating maintenance installation and logistics activities initiallyduring our next long shutdown to keep CERNs fixed target areas and associated beam-line facilities running safely and efficiently.

Functions :

• Take part in the maintenance installation and improvement of mechanical systems in experimental and beam-line areas.
• Participate in fault-finding and elaborating repair solutions together with engineers and other team members.
• Contribute to assembling testing installingandcommissioning of beam-line mechanical components (e.g. collimators intercepting devices supports).
• Support procurement and production follow-up activities ensuring good coordination with suppliers and contractors.
• Assist in the design and assembly of mechanical supports for experimental setups.
• Organize and carry out logistical tasks such as preparing shielding blocks managing storage transport coordination and keeping inventories up to date.
• Actively participate in hands-on mechanical work including interventions on detector systems when needed.

Qualifications :

Higher technical diploma or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Mechanical or Electromechanical engineering or a related field.

Experience :

• Mechanical maintenance installation logistic and supervision of technical systems within multidisciplinary teams.
• Working with high-precision mechanical devices and instrumentation.
• Coordinating technical interventions while ensuring strict compliance with safety standards.
• Assembly testing and optimisation of mechanical systems.
• Documenting technical interventions and maintenance activities.
• The use of Microsoft Office GANTT (Microsoft Project) and CATIA 3D CAD software will be considered as an asset.

Technical competencies :

• Design and analysis of mechanical structures.
• Construction test and installation of electromechanical equipment and systems.
• Knowledge and application of manufacturing methods and work preparation.
• Organisation planning and controlincluding the coordination of technical work.
• Knowledge of design codes and compliance verification of mechanical equipment.

Employment Conditions

Contract type : Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions holders of limited-duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position.

• Work in Radiation Areas.
• Interventions in underground installations.
• A valid driving licence.
• Work during nights Sundays and official holidays when required by the needs of the Organization.
