Organizational Context

The post is located in the Development Agenda Coordination Division (DACD), which is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the WIPO Development Agenda.

The Division serves as the Secretariat for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP), and facilitates its work in defining actions for the implementation of the Development Agenda and review of its implementation. For this purpose, the Division also interfaces with internal and external stakeholders and promotes a better understanding of the WIPO Development Agenda and its benefits.

Purpose Statement

The incumbent is responsible for contributing to the implementation of the Development Agenda and its mainstreaming in all related programs and activities and undertaking substantive and logistic tasks for the organization of the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP).

Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Director of the Division.

Work Relations

The incumbent liaises extensively with internal stakeholders throughout the Organization, as well as external stakeholders, such as member states, IPOs, and IGO's and NGO's.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the preparation of documentation and reports for the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP).
  • Provide substantive support for coordination, implementation and evaluation of activities, and for their mainstreaming in the work of the Organization.
  • Carry out research, draft reports, prepare documentation and compile information in support of the development, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of Development Agenda projects and activities.
  • Assist in developing the Division work plans and budget; monitor budget and work plans on a regular basis; and coordinate the preparation of the Division's inputs to the biennial WIPO Programs of Work and Budget and WIPO Performance Reports.
  • Participate in missions and meetings, provide technical input, support project management activities and assist with the implementation of the Development Agenda action points.
  • Provide logistical, administrative and substantive support with regards to the organization of Committee sessions and other CDIP-related meetings.
  • Establish and maintain contact with relevant internal and external stakeholders as directed, including Member States and intergovernmental organizations.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements

First-level university degree in development studies, economics, international relations, law or related discipline.

Experience (Essential)
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience in the field of IP, including experience obtained at the international level.
  • Experience in supporting intergovernmental negotiations, developing plans, and coordinating and implementing decisions at an international level.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of other official UN languages.
