You will join the Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory within the Service of Medical Genetics (SMG).
Responsibilities- Validating, interpreting, and drafting diagnostic analysis reports.
- Supervising and supporting laboratory staff in their technical and professional activities, in close collaboration with the laboratory head.
- Contributing to the organization and smooth operation of the laboratory, including administrative and organizational tasks.
- Participating in the management and continuous improvement of the quality system, particularly in relation to ISO 15189 documentation.
- Ensuring the continuous enhancement of service quality.
- Proposing and implementing new technological approaches and diagnostic analyses, anticipating developments in the field.
- Contributing to staff training and to the supervision of trainees and new colleagues.
- Taking part in internal and external quality control programs to ensure the reliability of results.
- Maintaining regular communication with clinicians and other partners.
- Participating in research and scientific dissemination (internal presentations, national and international conferences).
- Contributing to teaching activities (University of Geneva courses).
- Collaborating proactively and transparently with the laboratory head by providing constructive input, suggestions, and feedback.
- Specialization in Medical Genetics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a biologist in molecular genetics within an accredited diagnostic laboratory.
- Demonstrated expertise in the biomedical interpretation of molecular genetics results.
- Strong experience in next-generation sequencing (NGS), including technical proficiency, critical evaluation of bioinformatic results and quality parameters, data interpretation, and optimization/troubleshooting of procedures.
- Solid knowledge of the ISO 15189 standard and proven experience applying it in a laboratory setting.
- Excellent command of molecular biology techniques, with a track record of implementing accredited molecular diagnostic tests.
- Ability to manage a technical team of around ten people.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to clinicians and colleagues.
- Collaborative mindset and interpersonal skills fostering constructive teamwork.
- Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken;
German is an asset.
