Reports To: Director of Nursing

Position Summary:
The Labor and Delivery Nurse Manager oversees daily operations for our 6-bed LDRP unit and Level I Newborn Nursery. This role ensures high-quality, compassionate care for mothers and newborns while maintaining smooth department workflow. Responsibilities include staff scheduling, payroll management, staff education, adherence to hospital policies and procedures, and direct patient care as needed. The Nurse Manager collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other departments to promote patient safety, staff development, and excellent clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily operations of the LDRP and Newborn Nursery units
• Develop and maintain staff schedules, manage payroll, and ensure adequate coverage
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing staff
• Monitor and update departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives
• Oversee patient care to ensure compliance with clinical standards and hospital protocols
• Coordinate staff education, training, and professional development
• Serve as a liaison between staff, providers, and administration
• Participate in performance evaluations, recruitment, and retention efforts

Qualifications:

• Current RN license in the state of Mississippi (or eligibility to obtain)
• Minimum of 3 years of Labor and Delivery and Newborn Nursery experience required
• Prior leadership or management experience preferred
• Current BLS, NRP, and ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to foster a positive, team-oriented environment
