Civils Supervisor

Position: Civils Supervisor (Permanent)
An award-winning building contractor is seeking an experienced Civil Supervisor to oversee day-to-day delivery of civil engineering works on live construction projects in Scotland, ensuring safe, high-quality and on-programme delivery in line with company standards and client expectations.

Key responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate civil works on site (earthworks, roads, drainage, concrete structures and associated infrastructure) to meet programme, quality and safety requirements.
Lead and direct site operatives and subcontractors, holding daily briefings, allocating labour and monitoring productivity against targets.
Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation, RAMS and company procedures, carrying out regular inspections and addressing any non-conformances.
Monitor workmanship and material quality, undertake checks and inspections, and ensure works are completed to specification and drawings.
Support short-term planning and sequencing of works, including input into lookahead programmes, method statements and resource planning.
Coordinate with the Site/Project Manager, Engineer and commercial team on progress, variations, resource issues and constraints, providing accurate daily records and reports.
Assist with induction and ongoing briefing of site personnel, promoting a strong safety culture and positive working environment.
Skills and experience

Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor / Civils Site Supervisor / General Foreman on civil engineering or infrastructure projects (e.g. roads, drainage, utilities, structures) within the UK construction sector - preferably main contracting.
Strong understanding of site-based health, safety and environmental management, with a track record of maintaining high safety standards. SSSTS or SMSTS and a current CSCS card are strongly preferred.
Ability to read and work from drawings, specifications and method statements, and to identify buildability or coordination issues early.
Confident in leading teams, coordinating subcontractors and communicating effectively with engineers, management and client representatives.
Competent in site records, diaries, allocation sheets and basic reporting, with good IT literacy.
Full UK driving licence
