Outfitting Detail Design Engineer – Expleo Group

As a Detail Design Engineer, you will carry out detailed engineering design activities, working closely with cross‑functional teams on a range of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Creation of CAD Models and Drawings: produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings to meet required standards.
• Design Deliverables: ensure all design deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
• Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders during appropriate design phases to ensure coordination and functionality of design.
• Project Support: contribute to and support the entire project and product design cycle, from concept to construction and installation.
• Technical Support: provide technical support during the construction and installation phases.
• Perform self‑verification of work.
• Reporting of technical progress and issues to line management.
• Be aware of and ensure that safety, health and environmental requirements are implemented.
• Assist with the maintenance and improvement in quality standards of outputs.
• Change embodiment.

• Required to hold an NC/HNC or an equivalent qualification / experience in a related discipline.
• Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or relevant industry experience.

• Familiarity with shipbuilding/ship repair terminology and practices.
• Proficient in the use of one or more parametric/spec‑driven CAD systems in both 3D and 2D environments.
• Experience with FORAN.
• Experience with Windchill.

• Preferable T26 experience.

• Experience in design processes and procedures specifically within detail design (stage 2 modelling / stage 3 outputs), working on naval or commercial marine projects (preferably naval shipbuilding or new build/major conversion).

• BPSS clearance required.
