Position: Packaging Developer (12 month FTC)

The Whisky and Gin category, with emblematic brands such as DEWAR’S®, Aberfeldy and BOMBAY SAPPHIRE®, is one of the most dynamic and innovative portfolios for Bacardi.

The Packaging Developer will support key technical packaging projects for our brands and also support key business critical projects such as Business Continuity (BCP), Value Creation and Sustainability.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will know how to operate in an agile and changing environment, working very closely with internal and external partners while maintaining operational and technical discipline.

They should be a knowledgeable technical partner with experience in glass developments or the luxury segment.

They should embrace an execution culture, passion for excellence and strong ownership to deliver projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support the development and execution of best‑in‑class packages.
  • Create robust packaging specifications and develop all components to meet brand equity, manufacturing constraints, cost and timeline, legal and quality standards.
  • Undertake DFMEA review with suppliers and plants to identify risks.
  • Create and execute robust test plans and high‑quality trial reports.
  • Elevate technical or project risks; lead packaging development autonomously when required.
  • Ensure suppliers can manufacture specifications to capable standards through effective sampling and production.
  • Lead and record all trials & testing and ensure stakeholders approve results.
  • Contribute to growing technical knowledge and innovation on packaging.
  • Collaborate closely with QA, manufacturing and procurement to find solutions and drive mold and packing line qualification.
  • Create and route for approval robust packaging specifications meeting brand equity, manufacturing constraints, COGS and LT, legal and quality criteria.
  • Master test methods, ship test protocols and mold qualification.
  • Bring innovative ideas through supplier scouting and visits.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Educational Requirement:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging or related field such as mechanical engineering, material science, etc.
  • Minimum two years of experience in packaging development or a role in operations linked to packaging (QA, packing line, or packaging supplier experience).
  • Broad understanding of packaging component development, molding, packing line and supply chain qualification.
  • Ability to quickly understand packaging materials and systems to create and manage fit‑for‑use specifications.
  • Understanding of technical drivers of component cost and ability to work with procurement for best value.
  • Mastery in risk assessment for packaging components and the overall pack life cycle.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • CAD capability and 3D CAD capability would be a plus.
