EnvCoW, Consents and Environmental Licensing - Fixed-term or Contingent Worker (Mid-Senior Level)
ERM is seeking an experienced environmental professional to work exclusively with one of our major clients. This is a flexible engagement designed for individuals interested in fixed‑term contracts or contingent/daily rate assignments
, with immediate availability highly preferred. Locations are across Scotland, with travel required between client sites.
- Lead on consents and licensing:
Manage condition discharge, environmental licensing, and preparation of contract specifications to ensure timely project delivery. - Monitor compliance:
Coordinate and oversee contractor and client environmental obligations, ensuring statutory compliance and alignment with sustainability ambitions. - Manage consultancy contracts:
Scope, tender, award, and oversee multiple consultancy contracts for EnvCoW support services and post‑planning surveys/assessments. - Stakeholder engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with consenting bodies, statutory authorities, and key consultees to support project decision‑making. - Contractor collaboration:
Develop positive working relationships with contractors and project teams to raise standards in environmental and regulatory performance. - Site inspections and audits:
Conduct scheduled reviews to ensure compliance with environmental and planning consents.
- Proven project management experience, including consultant oversight, cost control, risk management, and delivery of major projects.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to represent client interests, influence, and negotiate effectively.
- Ideally, a degree in Environmental Studies (postgraduate qualification desirable) and relevant industry experience (infrastructure, consultancy, or national projects).
- Membership of a professional environmental body is advantageous.
- Hands‑on construction site experience and contractor oversight.
- Solid knowledge of ecology, hydrology, and peat management.
- Understanding of the planning process and condition discharge.
