Frazer‑Nash Consultancy invites applications for the role of Nuclear Structural Integrity Stress Engineer
. Join a leading consultancy where you will support projects across the life cycle of nuclear programmes, from small modular reactors and new builds to fusion, decommissioning and life extension.
As a Stress Engineer you will:
- Use Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to conduct strength, fatigue (low cycle and high cycle), creep and defect tolerance assessments of safety critical components.
- Help clients develop new designs, solve operational problems and justify the life extension of existing assets.
- Deliver and lead projects across diverse sectors such as defence, energy and transport.
- Engage with customers to understand requirements and design delivery approaches.
- Collaborate with the wider Frazer‑Nash team, support teammates, and contribute to capability development.
- A degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Solid technical knowledge in the mechanical/structural engineering domain.
- Experience with FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or LS‑Dyna.
- Understanding of failure mechanisms including strength, fatigue, creep and fracture.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME III, ASME VIII, API 579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6).

£50,000 to £65,000 pa, depending on experience.
LocationGlasgow, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth (flexible hybrid working – split between office and home).
