Job title: Advanced Apprentice Machinist

Location: Glasgow

Salary: Starting from £18,667 with annual progression through the scheme duration.

• Reading and interpreting engineering & assembly drawings, tolerances, materials and geometry.
• Develop competence in operating manual & CNC machines, including lathes & milling machines, working within tight tolerances and a high level of quality to produce components and parts to support the installation of equipment on our Type 26 ships.
• Gain experience in selecting tools, fixtures, jigs and manipulating setting speeds, feeds and calibration of tooling.
• Develop ability to program and adjust CNC machines using CAD/CAM software to program specific parts and also adjust existing CNC programs, including speeds, tool paths and feed.
• Gain additional experience in using measuring equipment like micrometres, callipers and gauges.
• Gain experience in problem solving and process improvement.
