Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power & Transmission

📍 Glasgow (with site visits across Scotland) 🏗 Tier 1 Contractor

We are currently working with a leading Tier 1 contractor who is delivering major power and transmission infrastructure projects across Scotland. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a portfolio of overhead line and substation projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established delivery team working on long-term frameworks within the energy and utilities sector.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for multiple power and transmission projects, supporting project teams from pre-construction through to final account. Typical works include overhead lines, substations, and associated civils.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Full commercial management of power and transmission projects
  • Administration of contracts (primarily NEC) including compensation events and change control
  • Preparation and management of cost forecasts, CVRs, and final accounts
  • Subcontractor procurement, management, and payments
  • Assessment of variations, claims, and commercial risk
  • Close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and clients
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff
About You
  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within power, utilities, or heavy civils
  • Strong background working on overhead line and/or substation projects
  • Solid knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 contractor or on large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
