Mechanical / Aeronautical Placement Year Student

Join Frazer‑Nash as a Mechanical / Aeronautical Placement Year Student and work on cutting‑edge projects across the UK. The role starts 29th June 2026 and closes 11th January 2026.

Location: Glasgow, Leatherhead, Bristol

Contract: 10‑12 months, full‑time

The Role

This placement year is designed for students who want to explore a career in the Mechanical / Aeronautical industry. You can specialise in one of the following disciplines:

  • Fluids, Thermal and Process Engineering
  • Structural and Mechanical Integrity
  • Design or Hardware

You will work on projects such as:

  • Aerodynamic optimisation of an offshore wind farm
  • Assessing the integrity of nuclear power station equipment for extended life
  • Design of space‑based resource extraction systems
  • Prediction of cooling flow effectiveness in an aerospace jet engine
  • Certification of a structure for operation during earthquakes
  • Development of multi‑physics novel space satellite system
  • Design of process equipment for packaging and storage of nuclear waste

Selected students receive training, mentoring and coaching and will be supported to achieve professional accreditations including chartership with one of the five partnered institutions.

Qualifications:

on track to earn a 2:1 degree or higher (or equivalent/experience) in Engineering or relevant physical sciences.

Pre‑employment screening and UK National Security Vetting clearance are required.
