First People Solutions is recruiting for a leading consulting engineer located in Glasgow. This consultancy has built a strong presence across civil, structural, and transport engineering, they work on a wide range of urban and built-environment project, from buildings and public realm infrastructures to infrastructure, highways, and water.

We're looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to take a central role in delivering high-quality developments spanning residential, education, commercial and regeneration sectors.

The Role
As a Principal Engineer, you will bring technical expertise, leadership and strategic insight to a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring excellence at every stage.

Lead and oversee structural engineering design and analysis
Take full ownership of project delivery: deadlines, outputs, coordination and client communication
Manage and mentor staff and wider team members, supporting their technical and professional development
Produce and review high-quality technical reports and drawings
Use - and guide others in using - industry-standard software
Drive internal reviews, uphold rigorous checking processes and ensure full compliance
Contribute to business development, including networking, bid writing and fee proposals

Your Experience & Skills

A degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent
Chartered status preferred
Significant design experience gained within a commercial environment
Significant experience working within a design engineering consultancy in the UK
Strong leadership skills and able to manage project delivery
Experience liaising with new and existing clients, stakeholders, and directors
Experience mentoring and supporting the professional development of engineers/technicians and wider team
