Customer Service Assistant (Security & Mobility)

Network Rail welcomes applications for the role of Customer Service Assistant (Security & Mobility) based in Glasgow, Scotland.

Overview

As part of Network Rail’s commitment to safe, efficient customer journeys,
Customer Service Assistants provide frontline support across station operating areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a highly visible point of contact for station users, delivering customer service to all visitors, contractors, retailers, and passengers.
  • Undertake regular station checks covering contractor compliance, security, safety and equipment in accordance with company standards and procedures, completing relevant audit paperwork.
  • Respond to and record emergencies, incidents and incidents involving the general public and industry partners, as required.
  • Maintain fault reporting records, reviewing and closing actions as required.
  • Assist and provide information to customers travelling through the station.
  • Check that contractors have relevant risk assessments and method statements prior to issuing Permit to Work.
  • Implement plans to prevent and manage criminal activity on the station, discouraging unauthorised persons from entering or remaining.
  • Proactively deal with hazards or unsafe conditions, ensuring correct reporting.
  • Fulfil duties prescribed within Emergency Plans.
Essential Qualifications
  • Command of the English language, written and oral.
  • Experience working in a customer‑facing environment.
  • Confidence to deal assertively with varied situations.
  • Team working capability.
  • Meet the required benchmark for application screening questions (all applicants).
Desirable Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and maths.
Benefits & Conditions

Band 6 – Salary £26,459. Grade
6. Full‑time. Shift, weekend, bank holiday and night working. Pre‑appointment medical to enable driving station buggies.
