SSE Renewables (SSER) is the UK and Ireland’s clean energy champion with a growing presence internationally. The strategy is to lead the transition to a net zero future through development, construction and operation of renewable power assets as part of SSE Plc.
What is the Role?An exciting opportunity exists for a Joint Venture Accountant to join the Renewables Financial Control team based in Perth or Glasgow. The role focuses on Seagreen Windfarm, Scotland's largest offshore wind farm. Reporting to the Joint Venture Finance Manager, you will deliver accurate and timely general accounting, period‑end closing and reporting activities, and provide updates on financial performance to the commercial finance team and JV partner.
YourResponsibilities Will Include
- Preparing month‑end journals and ownership of monthly analytical commentary for inclusion in the SSER monthly management accounts
- Ownership of balance sheets and trial balances, and performing reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Contributing to the year‑end and half‑year process, including preparation of statutory accounts and liaison with auditors
- Continually reviewing processes and procedures to meet JV financial control requirements
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns as required
- Professional qualification with practice or industry experience
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of IFRS and FRS 101 accounting standards
- Strong analytical skills with ability to research, understand and interrogate various finance issues
- Good knowledge of core financial systems and general accounting procedures
- Strong time‑management skills to balance competing deadlines and deliverables across diverse stakeholders, with the ability to manage expectations and adapt to changing business needs
- Confident and articulate, willing to challenge constructively and supportively
In addition, you will be a good communicator, professional and diligent, able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure while maintaining quality. Flexibility, expectation management and adaptability to changing business needs are essential.
