About the Role
We are seeking a Divisional Financial Controller to take ownership of financial reporting, governance, and performance insight across a diverse and fast‑moving division. With the organisation set to triple in size over the next five years, this role is pivotal in ensuring strong financial controls, consistent accounting practices, and high‑quality reporting as the business grows both organically and through acquisition.
You will act as a trusted partner to operational leaders, providing clarity on contract performance, cash flow, and profitability. You’ll also play a key role in external audit coordination, forecasting, and strengthening internal controls.
What You’ll Be Doing Business Partnering & Commercial Insight- Build strong relationships with operational teams, providing financial insight to support strategic and commercial decisions.
- Lead Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) tax obligations within the division.
- Support the integration of newly acquired businesses.
- Develop a deep understanding of cash flow from contract award to balance sheet, driving improvements in working capital.
- Analyse contract lifetime value, profit journey, and quality of earnings.
- Present clear, actionable financial analysis to senior management.
- Identify and communicate risks and opportunities across projects and portfolios.
- Lead the month‑end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS/UK GAAP and internal reporting standards.
- Act as the key liaison for external audit, coordinating deliverables and ensuring high‑quality responses.
- Champion robust balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
- Build and maintain divisional forecasts across P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
- Develop cash‑flow forecasts, analyse variances, and drive working‑capital improvements.
- Support the transition to IFRS
16 across the group. - Contribute to process‑improvement projects to simplify and strengthen financial operations.
- We welcome applications from qualified accounting professionals (ACCA, CIMA, ICAS) with experience in financial accounting, management accounting, or audit.
- Essential experience & skills:
- Minimum 3 years post‑qualification experience in industry.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in consolidations.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Excellent Excel capability and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
