Overview

Policy and Public Affairs Lead, Scotland role at Guardian Jobs. This is an opportunity to join Breast Cancer Now’s policy, evidence and influencing team to deliver change for people with breast cancer in Scotland. You’ll lead the development and delivery of policy and public affairs work in Scotland, develop evidence-based policy positions, and design and deliver influencing plans in line with our strategy.

Over the coming year this will include engagement ahead of and following the Scottish Parliament election and with the new Scottish Government. You’ll also support campaigning activity in Scotland and act as a key spokesperson for the charity in Scotland, representing us in the media as well as with campaigners and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of policy and public affairs work in Scotland.
  • Develop evidence-based policy positions and design influencing plans aligned with the organisation’s strategy.
  • Engage with the Scottish Parliament, the Scottish Government, and other stakeholders in Scotland.
  • Support the rollout of campaigning activity in Scotland and act as a spokesperson for the charity in media, with campaigners and senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the policy, evidence and influencing team and work with teams across the UK.
Qualifications
  • Experience in relevant policy or public affairs roles developing policy positions and materials.
  • Proven ability to build strong external contacts.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Experience leading projects and working with teams across the UK.
  • Good understanding of the current health policy landscape in Scotland or the UK and knowledge of Scottish or UK parliamentary processes and legislative systems.
