As a Mainframe DB2 System Specialist you will install, configure, maintain, and optimise IBM DB2 systems, ensuring performance and reliability across Barclays’s mainframe environment. You will also contribute to automation initiatives to streamline manual processes, enhancing operational risk management and efficiency.

• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM DB2 (including DB2 CA, DB2 Connect, Data Studio, etc.) on the mainframe.
• Develop and maintain mainframe tools using TSO, JCL, REXX, SQL, and related operating‑system utilities.
• Analyse performance metrics and optimise DB2 subsystems for efficient resource utilisation.
• Drive automation projects, scripting routine tasks and workflows to reduce manual intervention.
• Support security and compliance: understand RACF, apply secure configuration and monitor for vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects and other engineers to translate business requirements into reliable infrastructure solutions.

• Proven experience in installation, maintenance and upgrade of IBM DB2 and related tools.
• Strong working knowledge of mainframe operating‑system tools (TSO, JCL, REXX, SQL, etc.).
• Several years of experience as a DB2 Systems Programmer.
• Solid understanding of system performance, optimisation and monitoring techniques.

• Experience with Dev Ops tooling such as VS Code, Db2 Developer Extensions or similar.
• Knowledge of z/OSMF.
• Familiarity with Broadcom and IBM Db2 tools.
• Understanding of Db2 internals and RACF security.

Candidate may be based at Knutsford (Radbroke Hall) or the Glasgow Campus.
