Purpose of role

Lawes Consulting Group is working with a forward-thinking insurer to find a dynamic P&C Commercial Underwriter to join their Glasgow team. This is a great chance to drive growth and shape how new business is written in the mid-market space. If you’re confident with brokers and commercially switched on, this one’s for you.

• Underwrite profitable new business across Property & Casualty lines
• Build strong, lasting broker relationships to drive success
• Make confident, data-informed decisions at pace
• Actively contribute to team performance and market visibility
• Deliver against growth and service targets

• Meet and trade with brokers, in person and online
• Assess and price new risks within underwriting authority
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver great service
• Track your pipeline, stay on top of market trends, and spot opportunities
• Use mobile tools and insights to inform decisions on the go

• Solid P&C underwriting background—insurer or broker side
• Comfortable with SME/mid-market risks
• Experienced in writing and negotiating new business
• Proven ability to work to targets in a trading role

• Strong technical knowledge of property and casualty products
• Confident communicator and natural relationship builder
• Commercially sharp with a focus on results
• Skilled at using data to back decisions
• Working toward or holding ACII is a bonus
