Charge Nurse – OPSS

Overview

Shift Pattern

Rotational 12‑hour shifts.

Ward Information

Ward 1 is a 29‑bedged Geriatric Medicine ward for the elderly, caring for highly dependent and vulnerable patients with a wide range of medical conditions and clinical needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the team, promote and provide high‑quality care, and supervise qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all staff and encourage best practice in line with the CAS standards framework.
  • Provide clinical guidance and professional management; deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, confident communication, and effective organisational skills.
  • Contribute to education and audit; evidence of personal development is expected.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Substantial experience at band 5 level within a relevant setting.
  • High level of IT skills and good understanding of policy, procedures and national targets.
  • Desire to develop leadership and managerial skills.
