Advanced Nurse Practitioner Oncology / Trainee Annex 21 ANP
A permanent post in the Acute Oncology Assessment Unit at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. The role involves providing advanced clinical care to patients with oncological or haematological malignancy. Working Monday‑Friday day shift, with potential 7‑day coverage (8 am‑8 pm). Full‑time hours of 36 hrs per week effective 1 April 2026.
Responsibilities- Provide direct advanced clinical care to patients with oncological or haematological malignancy.
- Independently utilise advanced knowledge, skills and theory in clinical assessment, diagnosis and initial management of patients’ medical and nursing needs.
- Recognise and intervene early in clinical deterioration, applying protocols and evidence‑based practice.
- Communicate effectively with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) and provide senior leadership within the department and on the Cancer Treatment Helpline.
- Exercise professional autonomy and make critical judgements within agreed clinical protocols.
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and evidence of continuing professional development.
- Significant nursing experience and advanced practice experience in an acute care setting (e.g., acute medicine, surgery, oncology/haematology).
- Competence in acute care, sound clinical decision‑making and prescribing practice; knowledge and training equivalent to masters level or commitment to undertake the required pathway.
- Commitment to complete a clinical assessment course and Nursing and Midwifery Prescribing (NMP) training.
- Evidence of senior leadership responsibility and quality improvement projects.
- May be offered as a trainee ANP opportunity via Annex 21.
