NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. The shift pattern for this post consist of 37 hours per week. Effective 1 April 2026, the full-time working hours for all Agenda for Change posts will be reduced to 36 hours.
Gartnavel General theatres are looking for Band 5 perioperative practitioners for our fantastic elective team. Due to an expansion of service we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated applicants that have an interest of working in the peri-operative environment. GGH theatre suite consists of 13 theatres covering a variety of specialties including General Surgery, Brachytherapy, Oncoplastic/Breast Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedic elective/trauma and Interventional Radiology.
Previous experience within the peri-operative environment, is an advantage however not essential as the department offers team support and continuing education opportunities.
South Sector Theatres undertake a Perioperative dual training programme and Multi-speciality training supported by the GGC Centre of Clinical Perioperative Excellence. You will be supported in post-registration education by the Perioperative Education Teams and will have access to training and education pertinent to the job.
Responsibilities- Assessment of care needs and development of a programme of care.
- Implementation and evaluation of programmes ensuring delivery of high quality care to patients within the perioperative department.
- Work on your own initiative and as part of an integrated team.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working within a service that runs over a five day week and includes out of hours working.
- Engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow to achieve the needs of the service.
- Current NMC/HCPC registration prior to start date.
- Live NMC UK pin.
- PVG Scheme Membership/Disclosure Scotland Check.
- Perioperative dual training programme or multi-speciality training supported by the GGC Centre of Clinical Perioperative Excellence (preferred).
